Final Words
Firstly, I would like to thank Louise for hosting the last coffee morning. The talk by Stephen Carr was very interesting when he described the wide range of work they undertake especially when compared to Parent Partnerships in neighbouring authorities.
The next coffee morning will be from 10am to 12 midday on Wednesday 28th November 2007 at Sarah’s house in Southborough. The phone number for Sarah is 01892 518253. There will be no speaker.
Fund Raising – HAHA Show back to top
Our Toy stall at the HAHA Show in Tunbridge Wells in early September was a great success and we raised £380 for local funds – that should keep us going for a while!
By the end of the day most of the toys had ‘gone’, even if it was in our ‘everything 10p – or make me an offer’ closing down sale which was great fun!
Thank you to everyone who donated their old toys without which there would have been no stall.
I would like to thank Debbie, Shelley, Saeed, Louise, Caroline, Bernadette, Suzanne, Sarah, Julie, Emma, Kelly and Christine who all volunteered to help on the day.
An extra thank you to Bernadette and Shelley who helped to price the toys before the big day, to Kelly who did an excellent job at ‘selling’ the free lollies (we didn’t want to take them home again!), to Christine who volunteered for 2 hours and stayed for 5, to Ben for all his posters and to Colin for putting up and taking down the gazebo.
And thank you to Jonathan who lent us the Mid Kent Dyspraxia Group’s gazebo.
Thank you also to all the children who came along. Thank you Gemma for selling the toys and taking the money, Ben, Adam and Omar for getting the toys out of their boxes and demonstrating them by playing with them and then managing to sell them, Jasmine for riding the bike around with the ‘for sale sign’ and shouting ‘only £10’, and Katie, Yasmin, Pablo and Robert for buying so many toys!
I hope I haven’t forgotten anyone – if I have I am sorry (it was a hectic weekend) - thank you to you all.
Unit and Designation Review back to top
Just by chance, I ‘discovered’ the latest edition of the ‘Unit and Designation Review Newsletter’ (Issue 4) on the internet. It did not get sent home via school or via the postal or electronic mailing lists I am on. You too may have missed it. It can be read at –
www.kent.gov.uk/publications/education-and-learning/unit-review-letter-4.htmFollowing the Consultation for the Clusters in Phase 1 (Ashford, Shepway and NW Kent groups of clusters) the Report for the Consultations can be read at -
www.kent.gov.uk/committees/cabinet/17-september-2007/item-9-unit-review.pdfThe Consultation Documents for the clusters in Phase 2 (which includes Sevenoaks, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells clusters) will be available in early November.
Please let me know any comments you may have.
