Brief Description of Special Needs catered for
St. Mary’s School is a Non-Maintained (residential and day) Special School with DfES consent for pupils with -

Speech and Language,
· Physical,
· Medical,
· Moderate Learning and
· Social Communication Difficulties.
The majority of pupils have a primary speech and/or language impairment and often have complex needs encompassing the other areas mentioned above.
How Parents Obtain a Place
Entry criteria for the School and College are different and places are offered subsequent to assessment. Pupils placed in the ’School’ do not automatically go on to the College.
Enquiries are welcome from parents and Local Authorities regarding placement.
Placement is only offered subject to assessment at the school for suitability.
Assessments for placement can be purchased by either parents or referring bodies.
